Let Me Introduce Myself
I grew up in Decatur, a small town in eastern Mississippi. I was born in 1956, graduated from Millsaps College in 1978, and then graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine in 1982. I completed one year of Pediatric Residency and three years of Psychiatric Residency at UMMC. I worked at the Mental Health Center in Monroe, LA for two years before returning to Jackson in 1988 as an assistant professor of psychiatry at UMMC from 1988 to 1990. However, my passion is practicing psychiatry, one patient at a time. Since 1990, I have maintained a full-time private practice of psychiatry in Jackson. I am active in the state medical association as well as the Mississippi and American Psychiatric Association. My wife, Cindy (a nurse) and I live in Jackson, MS. We have five adult children scattered around the United States and seven grandchildren to date.
